Costa Rica News – This is one of the first times I have seen a Costa Rican government entity do something proactively before a problem actually existed in the country. Maybe someone in the Caja happened across the movie “Outbreak” over the past few weeks.
But in all seriousness this outbreak could become a pandemic. In Texas it is thought that over 100 people could have had contact with U.S. Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan. I know more than a few people in Costa Rica that call Texas & Costa Rica home.
In order to prepare for this threat Costa Rica is thinking ahead…..
“Ten public hospitals located near land, sea and air ports of entry are being prepared to identify and address possible cases of Ebola in the country.
The hospitals operated by the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) are: Tony Facio in Limón, Enrique Baltodano in Liberia (Guanacaste), Monseñor Sanabria in Puntarenas, San Rafael in Alajuela, San Vicente de Paúl in Heredia, Hospital de Ciudad Neily, Hospital Nacional de Niños (Children’s Hospital), San Juan de Dios, Calderon Guardia and Hospital México, the last four in in San José.” Quoted From Q Costa Rica
We can only hope that Ebola does not come to Costa Rica but at least preparations are being made in case it does. We will all be watching to see if cases start popping up in the land of “Pura Vida”.
