Costa Rica News – One of the most popular applications, WhatsApp, released a new actualization which allows the users to make free phone calls from the app.
The 2.12.5 version can be used to make phone calls, as long as the contact you are calling is online as well.
Costa Rican users are already taking advantage of this new option and they report that the sound quality is pretty good, almost the same as on a regular call.
Of course this also depends on the speed and reception of the internet connection you are using.
Take caution to avoid a related scam, in which you are invited by a text message from a friend to use the new call service.
It really just takes you to see publicity and invite 10 of your favorite contacts. Afterwards, you realize you still do not have the service.
For now the only way to get this service is by the actualization for Android, and maybe soon for IOS, which is only available at Google Play.
Please ignore any in-app message offering you the service.
