You know those giant family sized tubes that go down water slides? Who hasn’t been at a water park and thought what if this flips over or goes over the side? Unfortunately, that actually happened yesterday.
At around 1:30pm an accident occurred at Kalambu Hot Springs in La Fortuna, on a ride this writer has actually been on. A raft with five occupants fell off the slide from a considerable height.
A 38-year-old man is reported in serious condition. He was transferred to the La Fortuna clinic and then the San Carlos Hospital. Two others are stable and two are categorized as in mild condition.
Water accidents are not frequent in Costa Rica. The last severe case was in 2018, in Quepos, when four tourists and a guide died while rafting. There was a tropical storm and the river rose. They should not have been rafting at that time.
