Costa Rica Bachelor Party – For many that have come to Costa Rica in the past and also the ones that have recently visited for Costa Rica Vacations for single men, one of the places that you had heard of was the Beatle Bar in Jaco and as some people spell it The Beetle Bar Jaco. It had in infamous reputation and was the place to go to pick up some female company for the night.
The outside of the bar was not that of an upscale club and when you entered it did not get much better. The ambiance was dark and felt a little bit dirty, but I think that is one of its aspects that led to its allure and confidentiality. When men entered they gain the super power of a cloak of invisibility and felt comfortable knowing that through the doors at the Beatle Bar no wife, girlfriend, or lover was going to find them. The only way they could is if they hacked into your mind and incredible memories from your night at the Beatle Bar Jaco and most likely the time after you left in your condo or Jaco vacation rental.
If you remembered the Costa Rica Beatle Bar in the past it was much different than the open air bar it is today. The bar was located north of the Monkey Bar but on the main strip of Jaco Beach. As the patrons entered they would pay for a drink and be approached by multiple women looking to be taken home for the night. If the first one was not your type do not worry you would be greeted by many more as the night progressed. On the right wall in the darkness between 40 to 80 girls would sit and wait to either be selected by an incoming patron or actually be proactive and go talk to one sitting alone at the bar.
“You want company” was a commonly heard phrase of the men sitting in the Beatle Bar Jaco and it meant do you want to get acquainted, share a drink and broken English or Spanish conversation and decide whether or not you want to pay to take me back to your place.
About a year and a half ago the business started to falter as the girls found that instead of sitting in just the Beatle Bar they could increase their chance of finding their man or men of the night by going to various locales in the Jaco Beach area and seeing where the men and biggest wallets were located.

Technology Changes the Prostitution Business in Jaco & Costa Rica
With smart phones and text messaging the life of a Jaco hooker had changed, there was no need to sit around and wait for business at the Beatle Bar in Jaco. The industry had become technologically based and they were no longer sitting at one place all night in hope to be selected or rejected. They needed to go to where the men were. That meant walking or taking taxis to the locations with the most number of men. Now when men entered the Jaco Beatle Bar instead of 60 girls sitting inside their would be 10 to 15. The guys would enter, see the limited selection and then exit without buying a $10 cocktail or $5 beer. With technology the Beatle Bar in Jaco was not profitable and had to think of ways to get the clientele back.
The Jaco Beatle Bar Management then tried to implement methods for the business to start generating revenue. Drink prices were increased and a cover charge was implemented. This was not the most thought out of plans. No one wants to pay a cover charge to something that can be found for free within walking distance and it pushed more clients in other directions which meant more of the working girls left to find greener pastures.
At the same time these changes were being made a new location in Jaco Beach became the perfect place to meet men and generate income for working girls of Jaco ; the Hotel Cocal & Casino. The Hotel Cocal in Jaco was a better option and also had a better atmosphere being located beach front. Guys would come in and sit down poolside to have a drink, watch a game, hit the casino and of course talk business with the multitude of women that roam the hotel premises. Guys would then either take them back to their room at the Hotel Cocal or head back to their Jaco Beach vacation rental.
On a Friday or Saturday night the Jaco Hotel Cocal has more than 200 working girls sitting by the pool or venturing through the Hotel Cocal Casino. This was a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere for the men to pick up the women. There was light so they did not have to be scared of what the girl looked like coming out of the dark like at the Jaco Beatle Bar and sitting by the pool or by the beach while deciding on your nighttime company is always nice in a tropical destination like Costa Rica.
The fact is the men that are coming to Costa Rica to partake in some of these night time activities do not want to have to go to various places to find a girl. They are going to go to the place that is a one stop shop with the largest selection. The Hotel Cocal & Casino is just that. You will have women from all over Latin America; Colombia, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and of course Costa Rica.
So when people ask what happened to the Beatle Bar in Jaco there is a pretty simple answer……it is still around and some women are available at the new open air bar but the business of picking up women and finding your “date” for the night has switched to the Hotel Cocal & Casino in Jaco Beach..
