Costa Rica Entertainment – Tomas Guardia’s luxurious carriage has been restored by an arduous process that highly respected its original design and value.
After two centuries of wear, the historic vehicle was rescued by the National Museum.
All parts of the carriage that were in good condition were preserved. This includes its unique marine blue color. The structure was originally imported from Paris for official use of the president.
The carriage was meant for short trips in the city. It was the first of its kind to enter the country. It’s six meters long and two high. It has luxurious finishes. It’s restoration took 5 months. Some of the wood and silk had to be replaced.
The historical structure is now the main protagonist of the exhibition “Caminos, carruajes, carros.”
The doors to this exhibit opened May 4 and will remain open until the end of this year.
The hours of the museum are from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 to 4:30 and Sunday, 9 to 4:30.
