San Jose, Costa Rica – The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) suspended from today until July 13 the vehicular law restricting the entrance to San Jose.
The move has been done because of the reduction in traffic due to holiday for the half a year in public schools, as detailed in a statement the MOPT. During this period, it is common that many people take advantage and take some vacation days.
The temporary suspension of this regulation will allow the Transit Police officers to control and prevent things in areas such as emergency works carried out General Cañas.
The measure announced by the MOPT does not apply to heavy vehicles. These vehicles may be moved only at specific times by the General Cañas, Bernardo Soto, Prospero Fernandez, Florencio del Castillo, certain sections of Route 32 and the road crosses the hill Cambronero: from 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm
This limitation also applies to the road from Uruca-Heredia and the road between Santo Domingo de Heredia and Tibás.
The control of entry to downtown San Jose will resume on Monday 16 July.
