Costa Rica News & Events – An American-style extreme rodeo is coming to Costa Rica. This sport will take place in the National Stadium, which usually hosts soccer games and concerts.
The best bulls in the country will get to enter this famous stadium.
The company RPM TV is sponsoring the rodeo on September 6th and 7th.
The idea started about four years ago but was not achieved due to the high costs involved. The animals cost 20 million colones.
People from seven countries are going to compete. There will be Ticos, Australians, Americans, Mexicans, Brazilians, Panamanians, and Guatemalans. There is an expectation of 13,000 onlookers per day.
The Pro Rodeo Association is helping out at the event.
Quite a bit of work will go into making the stadium ready. 500 cubic meters of soil and sand must be laid 15 centimeters high to handle the weight of the animals.
The various competitions include team roping, calf roping, team penning, barrel racing and, of course, bull riding.
