A tragic accident happened as a family was on the way to the airport in Liberia, Costa Rica on Monday at 4:28 am. The driver and a mother and her six-year-old son died on the scene. The husband and father was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
The driver of the red pick-up said to cause the collision with the minibus the family was in has minor injuries. The severe impact destroyed both vehicles involved.
The fire department and Red Cross attended the accident and the public Force guarded the scene as bodies and evidence were removed. A report of the accident was sent to the Judicial Police.
This tragedy follows another one also in Guanacaste in which an accident claimed four lives on October 18th. That incident involved a drunken truck driver who crashed into a minibus.
In the first 336 days of the year, there were 388 deaths on the roads in Costa Rica. The majority of them were motorcyclists.
