Costa Rica News – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport will present to Congress a new plan to regulate taxi services and Uber in a month.
The protests continue but the MOPT does not like either of the proposals currently being seen by Congress.
MOPT officials explain that the texts have been presented without going into detail. The texts are not focused on the actual problems. They will likely be thrown out in any case as long as the MOPT makes a better one.
One suggestion to address the problems was to involve the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications in the discussion due to the need to consider modern technological tools and also involve the Ministry of Environment and Energy to assure the proposal adheres to the national decarbonization plan.
For any legislative move on the issue, multiple ministries must come together to make a viable plan that can be enacted without further protests. Also, the plan must take into consideration the technology of the times.
