Limón’s Newest Treasures:
Residents of Limón are buzzing with excitement! Four state-of-the-art Safe Spaces have just been launched, aimed at enriching lives through art, music, and sports.
The spaces were unveiled by none other than U.S. Ambassador Cynthia Telles herself, with the generous backing of the U.S. Embassy’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL). These majestic centers stand proud in Matina, Siquirres, Sixaola, and Limoncito.
Ambassador Telles’s Maiden Voyage to Limón:
Lauding the province, Ambassador Telles gushed, “Limón is a canvas of vibrant cultures, unique residents, and stunning nature.” Her inaugural visit was marked not just by these grand unveilings but also a series of magnanimous donations and the U.S. government’s heartfelt dedication to Limón.
A Memorable Tribute to a Music Legend:
In an emotional tribute, the U.S. Embassy dedicated a mural to the legendary calypso maestro, Walter Ferguson – an iconic figure and honorary Costa Rican citizen.
More Grand Surprises!
But the surprises didn’t stop there! Ambassador Telles, in a grand gesture, handed over a spanking new boxing ring, fortifying the commendable efforts of the Cieneguita Boxing Club. Adding a touch of thrill, 200 spanking surfboards were gifted, with the Municipality of Limón and the NGO Smiles and Waves set to teach the exhilarating sport to the locals.
Strengthening Bonds and Building Futures:
In a move to foster unity and community relations, the extension of the Police Athletic Leagues was announced. This initiative aims to cultivate positive connections between youth and the police via the universal language of soccer. Furthermore, shedding light on the U.S. Embassy’s Employability Program, Ambassador Telles proudly mentioned how 200 Limón locals were skillfully trained for the job market.
