Costa Rica News- The CCSS is discussing this month if it will give hormonal treatment to trans people in order to change their physique toward the sex they feel identified with.
The activists demand that in addition hospitals and health officials make a protocol regarding how to care for this population.
The earlier hormonal transformation begins, especially if in adolescence, the fewer health problems are suffered. Protocols for how to work with this population could also help avoid accidental or ignorant hurtful remarks.
The initiative being considered on June 8th asks that specialists develop, over the next three months, the protocol of therapeutic care for transgender men and women and to create an interdisciplinary team for this matter.
This population is currently excluded from the medical services they deserve, neglecting their human rights to medical care and an identity.
Their life expectancy does not exceed 35 years.
