Costa Rica News – Those of you traveling between Heredia and San Jose will want to leave about two hours earlier than usual because the train service is suspended, leaving the congested roads as your only option.
There was a landslide that affected the railway and it is closed for repair. It is estimated that it will remain closed for at least a week in order to adequately fix the problem.
As soon as it is safe the train service will continue.
Approximately 6,000 people use this commuter train daily. Extra buses will be available to meet the increased passenger demand.
There was a lack of communication between the bus and train services, so on the first day of the problem it was difficult to meet the unexpected demand.
The company is trying to initiate the repair as soon as possible.
The work will include the redirection of rainwater and construction of an adequate retaining wall that is 20 meters long and 8 meters deep.
