Costa Rica Travel – Have you read articles like “The Top 30 Places to See in Costa Rica,” “5 Best Beaches in Costa Rica,” or “100 Hidden Gems of Costa Rica?” Well I’m sure we can easily make lists of thousands of places that you shouldn’t miss in this beautiful tropical paradise. That may be too long to read so here are just a few for now:
- Witch’s Rock is the surfing destination which was featured in “Endless Summer 2.” Locally, it’s known as Roca Bruja. It’s difficult to get to so make sure to check for the best surf times before making the trek.
- Playa Grande in Guanacaste is among the few places in the world that you can see leatherback turtles on the land! Turtles go back to the beach where they were born to lay eggs.
- How does 45,000 acres of wetland birds and wild flowers sound? If you are intrigued, check out Palo Verde National Park.
- If you would like to feed monkeys try out Manuel Antonio. This beach also offers great snorkeling! It’s one of the closest to San Jose.
- You’re the athletic type, right? Test your limits climbing 6,200 feet to the tip of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. Afterwards, enjoy a soak in a natural mud pool or hot spring.
- In the isolate Nosara are you will find the Nosara Wildlife Rescue which treats and houses many animals including howler monkeys which you can encounter close up yet in a natural habitat.
- Eco-lovers will take pleasure in visiting what National Geographic calls the “crown jewel of Costa Rica’s cloud forests.” In Monteverde you will find yourself surrounded by eye level clouds.
- Are you an art fanatic? Grecia and Sarchi make up the cornerstone of mini oxcarts, masks, and other cultural art souvenirs.
- Dominical and Costa Ballena mix rainforest adventure with surf in a restful community. If you are lucky you may spot a whale!
- Cahuita and Puerto Viejo are personal favorites of mine. Enjoy dancing to the roots music at night and snorkeling in see through waters all day!
