Costa Rica News – Well it seems that there might be a little common sense when it comes to investing in sports teams in Costa Rica. I applaud the fact that this businessman was no lured into purchasing a not good team like Saprissa or La Liga, although I have been told many times at the local Costa Rican bars that either of those 2 teams would beat or could play with Manchester United and/or Barcelona FC. (How many shots of guaro are in your system?)
A Costa Rican businessman, whom the Spanish media identified as Mario Alvarado Orozco, raised a bid for Valencia FC, one of the traditional clubs of Spain.
This was stated in a press release. “Our intention is firm, with the aim of being able to solve the economic situation of the club and so give financial stability for decades to come,” said the press release.
The club currently has debts in the order of 370 million euros and requires an investment of 150 million euros.
“The statement added that the three main lines of the project is to rid the club of any economic stress, preserve the assets acquired by the club and provide a sports and social project that will mark a new and exciting era for valencianismo” highlights this morning’s sports news.
He should bring them over to play exhibition matches against the club teams in Costa Rica.

Magnate, hah, what magnate? The man is totally unknown in Costa Rica, he is a principal of six shell corporations, whose only asset is a 1979 Chevrolet as reported today by the country’s newspaper of record, La Nacion; Costa Rica is a money laundering paradise. If this were taking place Stateside the IRS would have the man in hot water in a jiffy, but not here where everything is business as usual. No one is ever prosecuted for money laundering, fiscal shenanigans or tax evasion.
Believe it or not, according to a report by the major news station, Radio Monumental, In the entire country’s history there has been only one conviction for tax evasion,
Let us laugh rather than weep!

2003.

Jeez, you should get a video of Liverpool playing Saprissa at FIFA’s 2005 World Club Championship in Japan. They won 3 – 0 and it was a no contest, they won hands down playing at half-steam, almost like a cat toying with a mouse.
Obviously you are speaking of Liverpool beating Saprissa 3-0, as I mentioned in the article for all those that get drunk and think Saprissa or la Liga could hang with a European team they have had too much guaro.
The man Alvarado is a two-bit con artist. His bid was to acquire the club’s debt at discount from a Spanish banking institution, Bankia. The offer was rejected as lacking content and credibility without Alvarado even being granted a hearing. Much ado about nothing.
