When my wife Deanna Jaxine Stinson lived in Eagle River, Wisconsin and later in Deer Lodge, Montana, her father would take Deanna and her sister Abby to Lake Michigan to go snowboarding. Deanna and Abby had a paranormal experience at Lake Michigan, but before I get into that let’s take a look at Lake Michigan. Many people wind up missing at Lake Michigan and there is no real explanation on the disappearances. If you look at the drowning incidents, Lake Michigan has 45% of the drownings, compared to the other great lakes. 108 people drowned in Lake Michigan in 2020 and 101 people drowned in 2021. With the drownings and disappearances, locals feel the lake is cursed and have given Lake Michigan the nickname of “The Lake Michigan Triangle”. The triangle goes from Ludington, Michigan to Benton Harbor, Michigan to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In the triangle, people have disappeared, ships have disappeared and even planes have disappeared. The Lake Michigan Triangle is as dangerous as the Bermuda Triangle, Alaska Triangle, The Devil’s Sea aka the Dragon’s Triangle (in the region of the Pacific, south of Tokyo) and the Sargosso Sea.
In the Lake Michigan Triangle, a ship called the Le Griffon vanished in 1679. Le Griffon was a large trade ship and to this day, they have never recovered any of the wreckage of this ship. There is no trace of its large cargo and the crew vanished. Where did this ship go? There are stories that people have seen portals opening up in the skies over Lake Michigan. UFOs and UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) have been seen numerous times at Lake Michigan.
One of the strangest cases at the Lake Michigan Triangle is when Steven Kubacki disappeared and then re-appeared. Steven on a snowy day took a break from Hope College, where he was a full-time student. It was February 1978 when Steven decided to embark on a cross-country skiing adventure that would only last a couple of days. Steven somehow disappeared for a whole year and three months. Search and Rescue followed his footsteps onto the frozen lake and then the footsteps abruptly stopped. There was no indication that he went back to his original resting place. It was like he was scooped up into oblivion. Search and Rescue thought maybe he fell into the lake somewhere and was caught underneath the ice. The search team found his skis and backpack, but no Steven.
Then the story gets even weirder. On May 5, 1979, one year and three months, Steven was back! He found himself laying in the grass at Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which is 700 miles from Lake Michigan. Steven told reporters that he was wearing clothes that did not belong to him and was carrying a backpack that contained maps. Steven had no explanation for his disappearance, the strange clothes he was wearing and carrying a backpack that didn’t belong to him. Steven could not recall where he has been for 1 year and 3 months. He felt like he did a lot of running. Steven had no memory whatsoever of his disappearance. An added note, Steven was also wearing a t-shirt that indicates a Wisconsin marathon. Steven does not know where this t-shirt came from, but yet he was wearing it.
Here is a theory. Was Steven abducted by a UFO and when the UFO occupants decided that they no longer wanted Steven, they returned him back to Earth and dropped him off at the wrong location and placed clothes on him that belong to another abductee? Some abductees have made claim that when they were returned back to Earth, they were dropped off in an area that they were not familiar with. Abductee Travis Walton was dropped off by the UFO alongside a highway and not the forest where he was originally abducted at. Another abductee was dropped off 30 miles from where his car was stalled at. Most abductees have memory loss like Steven and only through regressive hypnosis, that they are able to recall what happened to them. It would only seem logical that Steven was abducted. His footprints in the snow stopped abruptly, he was missing for 1 year and 3 months, he was 700 miles from his original spot at Lake Michigan and he was wearing strange clothes. Steven has all of the earmarks of being abducted and he was in the Lake Michigan Triangle which is known for its paranormal high strangeness.
Now let’s talk about Deanna and her sister Abby. On one particular day at Lake Michigan, while they were snowboarding, Deanna observed an orange globe hovering in the sky. As Deanna watched the globe, she received a mental message that she believes originates with the globe. The message was “do you want to come with us?” Deanna in her mind, kept saying “no”. The globe then blinked out and it was no longer hovering over Lake Michigan. Abby saw the globe, but thought nothing of it. Abby did not receive any messages as she was enjoying her time on Lake Michigan snowboarding. Special Note: Deanna has had many encounters with UFO phenomena and as a little girl in Auburn, California, she feels she was abducted by a UFO in which she calls “the mysterious eye”, because to her, it looked like an eye.
