Following the conclusion of the soccer world cup in Qatar in 2022, many of us still have a strong desire to engage in watching various sporting events. Whether we do it for the pleasure of flocking sports arenas, or for sports betting purposes, there is always something somewhere to look forward to with regards to sports. Fortunately, we don’t have to look beyond our continent to stay up-to-date with significant competitions in baseball, soccer, cycling, tennis, and many other sports.
MLB in Mexico (April 20 & 30)
Mexico will host some of the world’s top baseball games in April, as the renowned American MLB league makes its return to the Latin American country. The Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium will serve as the venue for two games between the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants, scheduled to take place on April 20 and 30.
Formula 1 – Mexico City (Oct 27-29)
As per the usual custom, Latin America is set to host two Formula One Grand Prix races. The first event will take place at Mexico City’s Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome from October 27 to 29, followed by the Interlagos Grand Prix (José Carlos Pace) in São Paulo, Brazil, from November 3 to 5. The question on many racing fans’ minds is whether this will be the year that Sergio “Checo” Pérez finally emerges victorious.
CONMEBOL
The most significant club tournaments on the continent are about to commence, namely the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and Recopa Sudamericana. Although Brazilian teams are typically considered the favorites, South American football has demonstrated that anything can happen, and the outcomes are not predetermined. All the action will be available for betting on the Betway betting platform.
Pan-American Games – Chile (Oct 20 – Nov 5)
Chile is gearing up to host its most significant multi-sport event in recent history, the 2023 Pan American and Parapan American Games, which will take place between October 20 and November 5, and November 17 and 26 in Santiago de Chile. Over 8,000 athletes will be competing in 39 Pan American and 17 Parapan American sports, using this opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Olympic cycle culminating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The U-20 South American tournament in Colombia
The South American youth tournaments offer an ideal opportunity for young players to showcase their skills before heading to Europe. Some of the most prominent football players in the world, including Vinicius Junior, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr., have participated in these tournaments before rising to stardom in senior teams. Recently, the first phase of the South American tournament saw the two groups defined. Group 1 is set to be the “group of death,” featuring host country Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and Paraguay. Meanwhile, group 2 includes the consistently competitive Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Ecuador.
In the first phase of the South American youth tournament, three teams from each group will advance to the hexagonal round. Out of the six teams in the hexagonal, only four will earn a spot in the U-20 World Cup, set to take place in Indonesia this year, while three teams will qualify for the Pan American Games in Chile. The tournament will be held across the cities of Cali and Bogotá, with matches taking place at the Pascual Guerrero (Cali), Nemesio Camacho El Campín (Bogotá), and Metropolitano de Techo (Bogotá) stadiums. Brazil and Argentina could be heavy favorites for the tournament, but there are several other markets in Betway betting.
