The largest and most advanced radio telescope on Earth, will be located in three countries: South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
This was decided after much debate between those countries.
The telescope called the Square Kilometre Array (SKA for short), worth $ 2,000 million and start operating in 2014.
When complete, will consist of 3,000 antennas 15 meters wide, which will have capacity to scan the sky 10,000 times faster and 50 times more sensitive than any other telescope.
It will therefore be able to investigate the origins of the universe for signs of any life beyond Earth.
In South Africa and Australia and is no infrastructure in place nor radio telescopes ready platforms. They are both waiting for the new facility.
