Costa Rica News & Events – The International Festival of Arts continues in Costa rica this weekend and if you have the chance to attend the performance of Teatr Ósmego Dnia a Polish Theater group you will be in for a treat.
Art can mean different things to different folks. To the Teatr Osmego group, “art is the answer to what happens in the world.” They are putting on a production that is impressive and moving, related to the theme of immigration.
Their work is philosophical. It unashamedly exposes real issues in today’s world, like violence, war, and immigration. This production is conventional theater with a very modest set that evolves into a boat, which the cast navigates on.
“The Ark” is one of the many shows that will be featured in this year’s FIA, the International Festival of Arts. This group Teatr Osmego is over 50 years in the making and they grew in popularity in Poland during the 60s and 70s. The original group used to face persecution and find shelter in churches.
The show can be seen today or tomorrow, at 9:30 pm, in the Museum of Costa Rican Art’s courtyard. Adam Borowski, who has been with the company for 40 years, said that the Latin people “are the best audience around the world.” When asked why they are bringing this presentation to Costa Rica, he answered that “I think because all the time we have in mind art and hope that what we create can change the world, at least a little.”
Teatr Ósmego Dnia will present there performance both Thursday and Friday night at 9:30 pm at the La Sabana Gran Teatro during the International Festival of Arts.
