Costa Rica News – Stores and supermarkets are increasing security measures to reduce theft.
Department stores place security devices in most products. Shops are investing in security agents, camera systems, and internal communication devices.
Thefts often happen with “tools” such as baby strollers, false pregnancy bellies, and wallets double lined with aluminum and fiberglass. Clothing is one of the most often stolen items, as is infant formula and personal hygiene products.
Yamuni has invested in guards without uniforms inside their facilities. They also use radio communication with a headset to communicate alerts to the entire store discreetly. This store is affected economically by the theft of merchandise and the investment in prevention.
Megasuper has also invested in security, purchasing a camera system with better quality. They can be reviewed through local and external networks. Thefts have decreased by almost half this year.
