Sporting FC, which won the national final against Juventud Escazuceña, has decided to bring back a policy well known in national football, that being having only Costa Rican players on the roster. This is something Saprissa did from 2003 through 2012.
This “rule” is not set in stone. It can be reversed if needed based on the circumstances. It’s more of an ideal meant to give national players a chance. The institution wants to take this new direction and train footballers.
This comes at a good time since there is little time left before the tournament if it maintains its start date. There’s not much time to look for athletes abroad. Each player must be studied and the roster ready to compete in first class.
The coach believes strongly in this decision and direction. He promises a great future by now focusing on knowing all about each new signing. He looks at sporting information as well as information about them outside of sports.
