Costa Rica News – An OIJ agent has put an operative against a gang of scammers at risk.
The agent warned the deputy prosecutor against Organized Crime, Francisco Fonseca, that they were going to raid his father-in-law’s house.
The Attorney General of the Republic, Jorge Chavarria Guzman, explained that this was a gesture of loyalty to Fonseca but it put the whole operation at risk.
39 people were arrested, including Fonseca’s father-in-law. They are accused of being part of a criminal group that conducts frauds in the acquisition of property and vehicles.
In the house of the lawyer involved, they found original files of the Prosecutor’s Office, which are believed to have been taken by his son. They correspond to some of the original allegations from this investigation which has been carried out since 2014.
Francisco Fonseca has not been involved in the investigation and there is no indication that he may have been related to the alleged criminal activities.
