Costa Rica News – A retired Spokane Police captain is fighting for his life in the hospital.
Keith Cummings and his wife Holly were on vacation in Costa Rica and got into a head-on crash with another truck on Friday.
In an online fundraiser, their daughter, Rachel Durkin, said her mother is recovering in a hotel room with several facial fractures and a pelvic fracture. She says her father had emergency surgery. The Spokane Police Department Chaplain says Cummings is listed in critical condition.
On the GoFundMe campaign, Durkin wrote, “My parents are some of the most kind, giving, compassionate people I know. Please let’s rally behind them and show them the incredible community of people that love and care for them!”
Their family is hoping to raise enough money to cover their medical costs… and get them home as soon as possible.
Since the fundraiser was posted on Monday, it’s raised about $5,700 of its $10,000 goal.
