Costa Rica News – Incofer, the Costa Rican Railway Institute, began work rehabilitating the railway that will provide train service to Paraíso de Cartago.
This comes after residents heard promises of the project for the last four years.
Technicians from the institute made route reviews and took corresponding measures. According to the executive president, Elizabeth Briceño, the commitment to the project is on pace.
The project involves a total of 5.3 kilometers of railroad to repair. The estimate is that it will be ready to be put in service by the end of this year. Some buildings are where the tracks will go and their owners have been notified by the municipality that they have to vacate the land.
A new station will also be built in the canton where the train will pass. The design has been presented by the mayor of Oreamuno, Catalina Coghi.
Additionally, a businessman has plans to build a parking lot for train travelers to leave their cars in.
