Costa Rica News – The San Lucas Beach Club, a public community center with a pool, food, and meeting rooms, will open on September 29th in Puntarenas. Gustavo Araya, president of Gourmet Group La Herradura SA-firm will manage the resort for the next six years. On opening day there will be a large concert to kick things off.
Amenities will include a pool, meeting rooms and sales of fast foods and soft drinks. On the second week of October the restaurant is scheduled to open.
Araya also indicated that the general entry for the opening weekend will be ¢ 3,500, and during the week the people of Puntarenas only pay ¢ 2,000. The company will assess whether this benefit extends to visitors from other areas.
The opening of the Beach Club and Community Center was made possible after the Municipality of Puntarenas ok’d the project to the management firm on the 6th of July. After approval 1.5 million dollars was spent on the remodel
These works were made by the Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports (INCOP).
It is worth mentioning that in June the Comptroller General of the Republic endorsed the contract between the city of Puntarenas and the company Gastronomic La Herradura SA Group to operate the Community Center.
The agency said they are required to pay a monthly fee of $ 4,500, an amount that will be increased by 5% a year, and the contract is for six years. The Comptroller said the community center will be open from Monday to Sunday, with a maximum hours of operation 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.
