Luis Llach, newly appointed as Deputy Minister of Public Works , will occupy temporarily the post of transport minister, replacing Francisco Jimenez.
Through a press release from the Presidential House, Chinchilla announced the appointment of Llach, who was transport minister during the first term of Oscar Arias.
The president emphasized that the road works on the Nicaragua border will continue. Just this morning called to her office the authorities of the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT), National Roads Authority (Conavi) and the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to receive an update of the progress of the new road.
The meeting was also attended by deputies from different factions, including all representatives of the province of Alajuela.
Chinchilla dismissed Jimenez last Friday when it was found out that here was an agreement between officials of Conavi, to have received commissions from the company practices for profit.
The case is under investigation by the Attorney General.
