Costa Rica News – The Central American Parliament (Parlamento Centroamericano – PARLACEN) is calling on Central America and the Dominican Republic to implement a regional visa, such as Europe, to promote multi-destination tourism in the area.
The implementation of a regional visa would boost economic relations and open new markets among the member states (El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama, Belize and the Dominican Republic) of the Central American Integration System (Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana – SICA).
The call is reflected in the final declaration of the XVI Forum of Institutionalized Development and Tourism Integration in Central America and Dominican Republic (XVI Foro Institucionalizado de Desarrollo e Integración Turística de Centroamérica y República Dominicana), organized by the Central American Parliament Tourism Commission, held in the Dominican capital this past week.
Forum participants also urged governments in the region to manage regional and global strategies for open spaces, for better connection by airlines and lower airfares.
At the same time, they urged the governments in the region to promote the development of measures to ease the transition of regional and foreign tourists through land borders.
