Get ready to jingle all the way to Parque Diversiones in Costa Rica, where this Sunday, December 3rd, they’re kicking off the holiday season with more lights than Santa’s runway and more fake snow than a Hollywood Christmas movie. It’s like they’re trying to outshine the North Star!
A Snowy Spectacle in the Tropics
Starting at 6 p.m., in the atrium of the church at Pueblo Antiguo, visitors will be treated to an artificial snow show. Yes, you heard that right – snow in Costa Rica! It’s a Christmas miracle… sort of. Imagine the joy of experiencing snow without the need to shovel your driveway the next morning.
Let There Be (A Lot of) Light!
At 6:05 p.m., the real show begins with the illumination of the entire entertainment center. We’re talking over 100,000 bulbs, making it bright enough to read Santa’s list – even the fine print. The lighting ceremony will be a spectacle of parades, bands, and mascots, with Santa Claus himself flipping the switch. It’s like turning on the lights, but with more fanfare than a royal wedding.
Santa’s House and Fireworks
By 7 p.m., Santa will head to his casa within Parque Diversiones to pose for photos. It’s your chance to ask for that pony you’ve wanted since you were five. Then, at 7:15 p.m., they’ll officially inaugurate the Christmas season with a fireworks display that promises to be so dazzling, you’ll forget about your phone screen for a minute.
The Season of Lights
Marcial Lobo, the General Manager of Parque Diversiones, promises a fantastic time not just on the illumination day but throughout their Christmas nights. “It’s going to be so bright, you’ll need sunglasses at night,” he might as well have said. The park is grateful to Costa Ricans for being a part of this sparkling project.
Christmas Every Day (Almost)
From December 3rd, 2023, to January 7th, 2024, Parque Diversiones is going all out with a special holiday schedule. The park will open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., turning every day into Christmas – except for December 24th and 31st, when the hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., presumably to give Santa some time off.
So there you have it: Christmas in Costa Rica is getting a turbo boost at Parque Diversiones. With a snow show, a festival of lights, and Santa selfies, it’s shaping up to be a holiday season that even the Grinch would find hard to resist. Dust off your festive sweaters and get ready to experience a tropical Christmas like never before!
