This Week in Costa Rica will feature each week a news portion in which Dan and Rico (qCostaRica) will talk about the happenings in and around the land of “Pura Vida”. With over 30 years of living in Costa Rica between the two it give a unique insight into life in CR.

This is followed by an interview with Nicki Wheeler, the international volunteer coordinator for the Association of Volunteers for Services in Protected Areas of Costa Rica, ASVO. This organization has been working for over 25 years providing both national and international volunteers to give support in protected areas of Costa Rica.
I had the pleasure of meeting Nicki at the Annual Turtle Festival in Matapalo, where I was able to experience the release of sea turtles into the ocean. Through her experience in Costa Rica she reveals insight into environmental issues currently effecting the land of “Pura Vida”
We hit the issues like the murder of Jairo Mora Sandoval, major problems currently effecting the Costa Rican environment, turtle egg poaching and how ASVO is trying to battle some of these issues.
