Costa Rica News – The OIJ is asking the public for help to clarify a homicide in Tamarindo. The deceased American had been living in the area over 15 years with his wife. They were a couple known for helping the community.
The man, Barry Martin Lawson, passed away on April 5, 2015 due to injuries to the head caused days earlier by thieves who assaulted his home in Tamarindo, Guanacaste. He was treated for four days at CIMA Hospital in Escazú.
The crime happened shortly after the local police delegation was shut down. It happened at their home/hotel. He was assaulted to gain access to safes. They stole money, rare coins, cell phones, electronics, jewelry and even his wedding ring.
This Tuesday, the Judicial Investigation Agency requested collaboration of anyone who might have information about the robbery and assault that led to this tragic death.
The Lawsons were very active in the community. They even started a philanthropic project called Friends of Education which helps those in need get an education.
