Costa Rica News – Spanish companies Gamesa and Iberdrola have announced that they will construct four new wind farms in Costa Rica.
The news was first released in a report by Spain’s El Economista, which explained that a contract was signed with Globeleq Mesoamerica Energy (GME).
The private companies will take care of each phase, from construction through commissioning. The four locations are Vientos de La Perla, Vientos de Miramar, Liberia and Tilarán.
These facilities will provide energy for 60,000 Costa Rican homes. Additionally, the project will help the local communities by creating 400 jobs. It will also prevent the emission of 172,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
This will be the fourth time Gamesa and GME worked together. They created the largest wind farm in Central America, in Honduras.
The company has already put up one wind farm in Costa Rica, in Los Santos.
