Riteve will review imported used vehicles and will not allow certain vehicles into the country, namely those with unauthorized structural unions, without a title, and those with right-hand drive.
This review must happen prior to nationalizing a vehicle and before the technical inspection. This new procedure is in effect as of today, according to the Ministry of Finance and the Road Safety Council.
Aspects that will disqualify a car from being imported include if it has been deemed a total loss or taken out of circulation in its country of origin, there are altered odometers, or they do not meet parameters in place to protect the final beneficiary as a buyer in our country.
Riteve will certify if the car is structurally well and give documentation to Customs. There is now a coordinated, inter-institutional approach to bringing used cars into the country safely.
