Nayara Arenal Hotel, located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, is in the sixth annual ranking of the 100 best hotels worldwide, released last month by the magazine ‘Travel & Leisure’. This is his first appearance in the list which publishes the magazine for 17 years from the opinions of its readers. Of a total of 100 possible points the Costa Rican property earned 96.36.
The first position is for the hotel Singita Grumeti Reserves, located in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, which gained 98.25 points.
Central American and Caribbean appears only ranked the Hotel Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua Guatemala, where 78 (92.67 points). Mexico, Argentina and Chile are the countries with a presence in the prestigious listing.
Leo Ghitis, co-owner of the property, was pleased by the recognition that readers of the magazine made this hotel the first in the region that occupies one of the top 10 ranking.
“The way we promote the hotel is promoting to Costa Rica and, of course, this recognition further puts the country in the world tourism map. The place number six on the list is a reflection of the level that the country has achieved in the world-class tourist services. It’s a huge honor, “he said.
The top executive said that pride is greater because the hotel, boutique competing with large global chains and have made huge investments in the countries where they are.
Arenal Nayara is a complex of houses (known as bungalows) located on a property surrounded by forest and the volcano as its nearest neighbor. Opened in 2007 with 24 rooms and now has a staff of 50 and 120 direct employees.
Ghiti added that work on the expansion of the hotel with the construction of a span and six deluxe rooms, which he described as “the most beautiful continent.”
In developing the ranking, ‘Travel & Leisure’ hired an auditing firm to collect and analyze information provided by readers from December 2011 to March this year. They were to give a score between 1 and 5 and the elements to qualify were the rooms and other facilities, the location, service, food and cost-effective.
