Costa Rica News – The police from the Public Force have arrested individuals who assaulted Spanish tourists at the Rincon de la Vieja park. The man and his son, Costa Ricans, along with another minor, threatened the tourists with a knife, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
The alert was received around 11:30 am and two hours later they were apprehended. Officers from the Tourist Police and Operational Support Group of Guanacaste were involved in the effort.
With a large scale operation to find them, at the time of the arrest, they were carrying the stolen cell phones, cash, binoculars, as well as the knife. They were transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
In this latest blow to the tourism sector, authorities highlight the combined effort to effectively stop the criminals. This crime against tourists comes less than a week after two unrelated murders of tourists.
