Costa Rica News – (Surf Report August 8th and August 9th) – We are going to give you the surf forecast for Costa Rica and we have our new Model of the Week. The Pacific side this weekend is great for surfers looking to get out in some good size learning waves and the Caribbean side is a bit small but there are always waves to catch. We have also added surf video from Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica.
North Costa Rica & Central Costa Rica & South Costa Rica Forecast for the Pacific
FRIDAY: By Friday size is down into the shoulder-head high-overhead range for many breaks, with some lingering plus sets for standouts.
WEATHER/WIND: Most areas will see light/variable to light offshore wind for the early mornings, before a moderate onshore SW sea-breeze gradually develops over the mid to late morning hours and into each afternoon. NOTE – Good chance for the wind to back off into the evenings for a glass off for some locations before dark, especially the more sheltered/tucked away spots. NOTE – Passing showers or thunderstorms due to temporarily affect/change local wind conditions.
Friday 08/08 – 1.2-1.8m – shoulder high to 1 ft overhead – SSW swell mix
Saturday 08/09 – 1.2-2.1m – shoulder high to 2 ft overhead occ. 2.4m – Reinforcing SSW swell

Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast falling slightly during the next few days. Light and variable north-northeast winds with smooth seas until Saturday. Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the early part of next week. Light and variable northeast winds with smooth seas, increasing rapidly later.
Friday 08/08 – 0.9-1.2m – Knee to shoulder – Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light and variable west-northwest winds all day and switching to the northeast.
Saturday 08/09 – 1.2-1.5m – Shoulder to head – Small short period wind waves from the east-northeast holding during the day. Light and variable west-northwest winds, Increasing later and switching to the northeast.
