Costa Rica News – Since September, a pilot program with a sensor system in Terramall has been used to send offers to mobile phones of consumers who download the application.
Companies advertise gift coupons, special prices for second purchases, mall events and discounts of up to 60%. 13 stores are testing this form of marketing in Terramall in Tres Rios.
The service is known as Beconet. It’s marketed by a local developer, Conexus Group. It uses a beacon or sensor system. The test phase concludes in November and will then be expanded to three other shopping centers in the Metropolitan Area.
Over 600 people registered to use the app.
The firm delivers information about the app to mall visitors daily. 20 people responded to one of the deals promoted on Saturday for getting a second ice cream at half price at Paleteros.
Each store uses it according to its personal marketing strategy. The cost is only about 5% of what would be spent printing and distributing flyers.
The stores pay a $50 installation fee and as little as $50 a month.
