When Allison Appleby entered Miss Dallas Teen USA, with her service dog, Brady, at her side, a random stranger told her that she couldn’t enter because “The pageant girls don’t have disabilities.”
The girl has epilepsy and her dog alerts her when an episode is coming so she can get her medicine. He also accompanies her if she has a seizure. He is currently in training to be able to get her medicine for her.
Appleby’s goal was to have fun and represent people with disabilities. She ended up winning the crown and title, after which she wrote on her Instagram, “Me, a princess? Shut up! Seriously, I’m still in shock!”
Perhaps the most emotional moment of the competition was when Brady was also crowned!
Allison is looking forward to further opportunities. She and her dog will compete in Miss Texas Teen USA 2023.
