Costa Rica News – Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera visited the Inca citadel in Cusco.
Peru and Costa Rica are inching their way forward to advancing the twinning process and strengthening ties between the two countries.
As part of that process, Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera visited Peru’s greatest tourist destination and sacred archaeological site, Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu Mayor David Gayoso Garcia, declared the President a distinguished guest of Machu Picchu and awarded him the “Medal and the Key of the City”, reports Andina news agency.
The Costa Rican President arrived with his wife Mercedes Peñas Domingo and daughter Ines. They accompanied the President at the honoring ceremony that took place at the Machu Picchu Pueblo’s main square.
“[…]. I believe this would be a very good way to start a twinning process to bind all of us together,” said the Costa Rican President, according to Andina.
“It is an honor to explore Machu Picchu along with my family. To us, this has been an exciting and moving opportunity to get in touch with our peoples’ roots, because, for me, staying here and visiting our grandparents’ heritage is a tribute to all America,” concluded the President.
