Costa Rica News – Jaco Beach, Costa Rica – Lost Beach Vacations, Costa Rica’s leading condominium vacation rental firm has announced the completion of a recent community service project that brought together a local school, the community of Jaco Beach, and student volunteers from the United States.
Earlier this month, as part of community outreach efforts by Lost Beach Vacations, the Escuela de Pueblo Nuevo School located in Jaco Beach, received a brand new interior and exterior paint job, a new kitchen stove, a rice cooker, pots, pans, and utensils.
Sixteen-year-old American student Christopher E. Skurka attends St.John The Baptist H.S. West Islip in New York and is in the 11th grade and his brother Gunnar Skurka attends St.Patrick School Bayshore and is in 2nd grade. They are both regular volunteers in the Jaco Beach community and frequent vacationers to La Paloma Blanca. The Skurka boys where in search of their next Costa Rica community outreach project and learned of the local school’s struggles from Lost Beach Vacations Property Manager Juan C. Naranjo.
The idea to rejuvenate the school was then brought to and approved by the school board. The Skurka boys put together a proposal to fix up the school and presented it to the principals at Lost Beach. Lost Beach agreed to work with them and fund the project if they came and did the labor. On April 6th 2015 The Skurka boys came to Jaco with their parents and 2 friends from school Frank Licata and Tom C. Scania, while Lost Beach Vacation rounded up additional volunteers to get the project underway.
“Giving back to our local community is something we take great pride in,” said Lisle Head, general manager of Lost Beach Vacations. “The surrounding communities are what make Lost Beach properties special. We owe it to them to give back.”
Lost Beach Property Management is planning to take on more service projects to continue to help the surrounding Costa Rica community thrive. While in Jaco Beach on family vacation or a student trip, travelers from all walks of life can participate in these future projects.
“While not everyone factors volunteering into vacation itinerary, we fully embrace and welcome the passion for those who do want to take the time to contribute to our great town while they are visiting,” added Head. “Our community is the beneficiary of their exceptional efforts, while they can experience giving back. It’s a win-win.”
