Ghosts & the Supernatural – A mirror is simply defined as an object that reflects light that we can perceive as being very similar to the original source. When a light reflects off of a mirror, it is strong and unscathed, only slightly.
Mirrors were originally polished from glass like stone, such as obsidian, which comes from a volcano (An ultimate source of creation and destruction). The appearance of a reflection was strong in these objects, much like the surface of a body of water. The balance of these attributes gave way to the ancient powerful, seeing device, known today as a mirror.
Today mirrors are used in cameras, telescopes, cars, cds, skyscrapers, beauty objects and even jewelry and clothing. Mirrors have definitely improved society and technology as we know it today. They can even start a fire! Without powerful lens, we may never be able to view distant galaxies and cosmos. We might not groom ourselves so well, either. What about the dentist? They use mirrors to see all those tricky places. We need to thank our lucky stars that mirrors exist!
Mirrors hold extreme power in legends. They can become enchanted, charged, broken, easily found, easily lost and they can fill us with confidence and other sources of energetic spiritual power. Some people believe that if someone dies in a house, there soul can become trapped in a mirror. Because psychics can read energy through old objects, a mirror is definitely a portal to other dimensions, which you should be well aware of.
Oh, don’t forget the tale that if you break a mirror you will have seven years bad luck? Could it possibly mean that all the energy that was imprinted inside is being reversed back onto you? Whatever the case, those who know and understand the greatness of mirrors, will come to know this time as the age of mirrors.
6000 B.C. Turkey, is the first evidence we have of mirrors. The first use is as a looking glass to see one’s reflection. The first purpose is beauty. The power of beauty is very strong as it allows us to see all through space into other existences. The truth of life is magical. How far we can see into the past, present and future with mirrors is mind blowing.
In mythology, Aphrodite is strongly linked to mirrors. She is born from the ocean foams and she gives rise to the beauty of the Heavens. Look, what the power of love has created! All of these powers are coming from a desire to look at oneself, to love oneself and now, we are reaching into the Heavens with it. The power is truly incredible.
The Mirror of Aphrodite is a symbol used to represent the planet Venus. As you know, Venus is the planet represented by our love goddess. The circle means the spirit above our cross of matter; That which is above what we know. The energy, the essence of the divine life exists in truth. A mirror is also symbolized this way to also show itself as a wand, and the power that we have to create with ourselves, in charge, in love.
Mirrors are pieces of reflective glass that are fused with coatings of hot metal to make it even stronger. The metal helps make the reflection more clear. Glass is a type of quartz, which is polished, than painted on with silver, gold, copper, bronze or chrome. Today, aluminum is the most favored metal coating because it is used best with ultraviolet lights. The silver and gold is great for infrared. The quality of the reflection is determined by, compatibility with metals, lighting and heat processing.
Today mirrors are advanced and evolved and so too is the world that they have created. The great power lies in mirrors of the past, present and future. What will the end result be of the use of these tools? Perhaps, we can try to see into them to where they came from, and where they belong, from Earth, into the skies, with light and time. What magick has evolved with them?
