Costa Rica News – While the issue that Laura Chinchilla is complaining about probably does carry a little bit of weight for Costa Rica, as an outsider looking in her argument seems a little bit hypocritical. But this is something we have come to expect from her and her cronies in power.
Nicaragua wants to sell of some of their maritime concessions in order to start off shore drilling for oil. The project has been dubbed the Petroleum Promotional Folder of Nicaragua.
However, there is an argument coming from Laura Chinchilla and the Costa Rica stating that these concessions are actually part of Costa Rica and that Nicaragua has no right to sell them or drill for oil in them.
Currently, Costa Rica and Nicaragua remain in an open trial in the International Court of The Hague in the Netherlands, because of the ethics complaint for the invasion of the island of Calero by the Nicaraguan army.
The comment in regards to this from the Chinchilla administration was “Nicaragua is practically selling their country.”
Seriously? Really? This coming from the administration that has continually allowed shark finning in their waters in order to put some cash in their pockets from China.
This coming from the same administration that has allowed China to build a new stadium, give the police a fleet of cars and multiple monetary gifts for access to Costa Rican natural resources.
This coming from the administration that has allowed Jairo Mora’s death go unpunished due to the fact that drug cartels are running the Caribbean side of Costa Rica.
This coming from the administration that was going to allow China to fund a refinery on the Caribbean coast for a piece of the metaphorical petroleum pie in Costa Rica.
The real question is for you Mrs. Chinchilla is are you angry about losing the concession or is it just because those areas are prime shark finning waters?
