Costa Rica News – The Government has initiated the procedures to expropriate land to extend route 27. In total, 79 hectares must pass into the hands of the State in order for the project to be successful.
The expropriations will be made starting with an investment of ¢3,500 million. The National Council of Concessions is responsible for the efforts to expropriate this land for the route between San Jose and Caldera.
First, ¢1,500 million will purchase nine hectares at the intersection of Santa Ana. These are farms without buildings. Next year, ¢2,000 million are budgeted to obtain 28 hectares and stabilize slopes.
The last 42 hectares will be expropriated based on budgetary capacity and progress of the expansion designs. The plan was originally proposed in 2014 with the idea of expanding the section from Ciudad Colón to Orotina six lanes and from La Sabana to Ciudad Colón four lanes.
What is not being said is that this land is mostly in the hands of a few owners with government connections that are going to be be rewarded in the chorizo Costa Rica systemd.
