Each year, thousands of faithful walk towards La Basilica de Los Ángeles, in Cartago, to honor the patron saint and ask for her blessing. This year, sanitary measures due to covid-19 prohibit this mass gathering of people.
Although the pilgrimage will not be allowed, the celebrations in her honor will not be cancelled. They will be broadcast for all to see and take part in from their homes with those in their social bubbles.
Costa Ricans can follow the activities, which begin on July 23, via the National System of National Radio and Television (Sinart) and Radio María and Telefides. Transmissions will be at 11 am and 6 pm. The traditional mass will be held on August 1 and then the Holy Eucharist on August 2 at 10:30 am. The rosary of light will be at 6:40 pm.
La Negrita traveled around the national territory twice by air to bring hope during this national emergency. She also blessed the Specialized Center for Patient Care of Covid-19 (Ceaco).
