Costa Rica Sports News – Levante vice-president Tomas Perez has claimed that a 10 million euro deal to sell goalkeeper Keylor Navas to Bayern Munich is already agreed.
Navas, 27, has been one of the breakout stars of this summer’s World Cup, making a string of superb saves as Costa Rica surprisingly topped a group including England, Italy and Uruguay, and then saw off Greece in the round-of-16 in a penalty shootout.
He had already impressed many La Liga observers with his performances last season for Levante, and a number of teams reportedly including Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen are thought to have been interested in signing him this summer.
Atletico had a player-plus-cash deal rejected by Levante last week for Navas, but Perez has told Teletica that a deal with Bayern is already finalised.
“[Navas] is going to one of the best teams in Europe,” Perez said. “For sure he will enjoy playing there. And he will have tough competition from [new] teammate [Manuel] Neuer.
“We are happy for him, because I believe he deserves this as a player and as a person. He has earned this, he has had a phenomenal season and we are delighted that he can move on in his career.”
Bayern will reportedly pay the 10 million euro release clause in Navas’ current contract, with two million euros to go to the player himself.
“I still do not know the exact terms,” Perez said. “But if it is done it is because the two parties are satisfied with the agreement.”
