Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, came to surf in Costa Rica in the company of the elected president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle. What better way to spend Christmas than enjoying this water sport in such a beautiful country.
The itinerary published by his office only states that he is in Costa Rica. It doesn’t specify which beaches they will visit, how long they will stay, nor whether his wife and three children accompany him.
Trudeau was elected in 2015. He comes from a political lineage. His father ruled from 1968 to 1984.
Canada and Costa Rica have always had a positive relationship. Trudeau personally called President Carlos Alvarado when he won the election. He said, “I want to express my greatest congratulations. I am very excited about the future of Costa Rica and your leadership.” The two leaders later posed for a picture together at the Paris Forum for Peace.
