Entertainment News – Frequent Hollywood collaborators Seth Rogen and James Franco’s next on-screen adventure doesn’t hit theaters until October, but the film already has one high-profile critic rooting against it: North Korea.
“The Interview” features Rogen and Franco as celebrity journalists who score an interview with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who is played by Korean-American actor Randall Park, and are enlisted by the CIA to assassinate him.
After the film’s trailer was released, Kim Myong-chol, the director of the Center for North Korea–U.S. Peace and an unofficial spokesman for North Korea, slammed the film in an interview with the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.
“A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the U.S. has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine,” Myong-chol said. “In fact, President Obama should be careful in case the U.S. military wants to kill him as well.”
Despite his harsh words about the film, Kim Myong-chol added that the North Korean leader would probably still watch it, which prompted Rogen to tweet: “I hope he likes it!!”
