Costa Rica News – World Cup fever has taken over Costa Rica as they have won Group D and have made the knock out round out of the “group of death”. But is the World Cup making government employees and other Costa Rican employees become a bit lazy?
Costa Rica’s success in the 2014 Brazil World Cup has been a celebratory distraction for local workers.
This success, however, has affected many of the country’s workers in a negative manner. The President allowed public workers to watch the games in their places of business as long as this did not take away from any services to the public. When the game was finished however, the win took over the country and inhibited many from concentrating on their daily tasks.
Everyone is excited and wants to make the most of this celebratory time. In some, however, this means that they are not able to concentrate on tasks, in some cases not completing their work or doing a bad job. The mass mentality makes this even harder with fewer people concentrating on work, others are less likely to do so.
Experts suggest making the most of the excitement to get work done better. The games will be finished soon, and even if the country ends up champion of the world, daily problems and responsibilities do not go away. It is important even in the celebration, not to lose touch with what is really important.
The good news is the next game is Costa Rica versus Greece is on a Sunday so if Costa Rica advances to the final 8 the celebration will start on a weekend. The bad news is there is going to be a large % of employees that will be calling in sick on Monday.
