Costa Rica News – It seems that the sexual abuse in the church is worldwide and more cases are still coming forward.
The Archdiocese of San Jose suspends a priest for alleged sexual abuse against minors 20 years ago.
The decision to suspend him came Monday, following formal complaints from three men for the abuse. They report being sexually abused when they were between 13 and 16 years old.
The archbishop of San Jose ordered an immediate investigation as required by ecclesiastical regulations. The evidence collected against him will be sent to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in Rome, on Tuesday.
A letter explaining the sanctions was signed by presbyter Rafael Ángel Sandí López, chancellor of the Metropolitan Curia. The priest is suspended from all priestly duties.
The Archdiocese of San Jose reaffirms its commitment to the fight against sexual abuse and reiterates that it stands in solidarity with the victims.
