Costa Rica News – The inhabitants of the capital district of Tibás, and Grecia, in the province of Alajuela, disposes today of intelligent poles, an advanced technology, which besides efficient lighting, provides safety and communication services.
Placed by the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) and Radiográfica Costarricense (Racsa), the poles also have the so- called panic button, used to request immediate assistance from the police in case of any emergency.
Also, they provide Wi-Fi internet service and they have a screen to display useful information, such as the weather and temperature forecast, as well as a surveillance camera, with range of up to 500 meters.
The ICE indicates that these facilities are run through an alliance between the entity, Racsa and the municipalities of Greece and Tibás, as part of a pilot scheme with provided poles by the Huawei Company.
The head of sales of Racsa, Suzeth Rodríguez, said that her role to local governments is to create all the capabilities of the group’s companies within its strategy, to respond properly and to develop different offers for the municipalities’ needs.
She noted that the service is part of smart and safe cities projects, which Racsa leads too and that are made in synergy with other companies of the Group ICE.
The manager of Electric Intelligent Networks and Innovation from the Electricity Corporate Direction, Rayner García, said that the execution of this technological solution responds to the strategic vision of the group ICE of taking advantage of their companies’ knowledge and capabilities.
This, she argued, based on the convergence of the energy and info-communications services to facilitate negotiations and to improve the communities’ life quality.
She said that as part of this pilot scheme, two other intelligent poles will be soon placed in Greece and Tibás, also in coordination to the municipalities, within the framework of the project of intelligent cities development.
