Costa Rica News – Six Ticas graduated from the MenTe program, an initiative that empowers women in science and technology. It was a two-month internship at Intel. Between them, they came up with three impressive projects.
The ladies are Jimena Chinchilla, Chyong Hwa Huang Shih, Camila Casasola, Mariana Díaz, Claudia Tomas and Lindsay Zúñiga Mora.
One pair worked on an assistant tool for exhibitors that can use facial recognition to count the people in the audience and give feedback as to their reactions.
Another project that was done takes musical scores and interprets them in a way in which, after being scanned, become colors. The idea is that it will make music easier to read for children and those with disabilities.
The last project created by the girls in the group consists of an application used to carry out inventory of Intel’s material goods.
Through the internship, the girls get to use equipment and software from the prestigious company as well as receive advice from experienced personnel.
