There was a computer error when opening a bitcoins wallet that actually allowed the OIJ insight into the kidnapping of sportsbook owner William Sean Creighton Kopko, who is still missing.
The group involved had at least 12 people including two Transit Police. Three were arrested in Spain and the rest here in Costa Rica.
The police involved stopped the man and four people arrived in a rented pickup to capture him and take him to a house in La Trinidad de Moravia. That was the man’s last known location.
The group then demanded the payment of $5 million but later lowered it to $1 million. This ransom was paid in bitcoin but the man was not released.
Computer researchers found the digital footprint of the group. Arrests were made but the scientific and technological investigation continues in order to find the victim. Several locations will have added police presence.
